Grand Lodge of Canada
In the Province of Ontario
Sesquicentennial Committee
1855 ~ 2005
When the Grand Lodge A.F.& A.M. of Canada in the Province of Ontario meets
at The Fairmont Royal York in July 2005, it will be experiencing the 150th
year of its existence. A wonderful time for the Masons of Ontario and
their families to reflect, celebrate and be proud of our rich Masonic
history in the province of Ontario.
On behalf of the 150th committee, I am pleased to report that the planning
is well underway for this GALA celebration. We hope all Districts/Lodges
will take an active role. We wish all masons to be a part not apart of
this exciting Sesquicentennial.
The committee has Five (5) objectives as we plan for this exciting event.
It will be a first class event that everyone will take pride in and
remember:
1. Create an environment in which all Ontario Masons can be involved and
proud.
2. Engage all Districts/individual Lodges in the Celebrations.
3. Be sensitive to costs.
4. Delight our special Guests.
5. Give Mason and Families of Ontario something to remember
To this end in July 2004 the opening of Districts/Lodges activities will
commence and conclude with the GRAND FINALE July 2005 at the Annual
Communication. The 150th Annual Communication will be held on July 22nd
through July 23rd, 2005. That is on a Friday and Saturday. The Board
meeting will start on the Wednesday, July 20thand we will conclude with a
Divine Service on the Saturday afternoon and a spectacular special event
on the Saturday evening, July 23rd at Roy Thompson Hall.
Join in - Celebrate - Be a part
of this great milestone in our Masonic Heritage in the Province of
Ontario.
R.W. Bro. Terry McLean.

Response is steady...
We were pleased with the brethren’s response to your New
Sesquicentennial Coin and we
continue to encourage you to purchase them, either through the Grand
Lodge office or at a Lodge of Instruction meeting scheduled in your
area.
The New Grand Lodge Tartan is a huge success. Do you know that
requests for tartan products (i.e. Kilt: ties: Tams: sashes: etc) can
be made through local Tartan supplier’s by naming our registered Grand
Lodge Of Canada 150th Anniversary Tartan?
Soon, if you are on the current calendar mailing list, you will be
receiving a copy of the Anniversary Calendar. This is a piece of
history, which should be cherished by all masons. If, perchance, you
do not receive a calendar please contact the Grand Lodge office that
will make every effort to see that you receive one. They will also be
available at Lodge of Instruction sessions.
Lastly I would like to remind you of the magnificent Chalice’s that
are available for sale. These wonderful commemorative Chalices would
make fine gifts for those masons in your jurisdiction’s who have made
outstanding contributions to masonry. Click on the 'G.L. Products'
link on the left for further information.
"Masonry at Work" A
new section has been added to this 150th portion of the G.L.
Website. It is called Masonry at Work and showcases District programs
and projects celebrating our Sesquicentennial. Visit often as this
page will be updated continually.
A Festive Affair...
Your Grand
Lodge 150th Anniversary Committee is pleased to present, for your
entertainment, a spectacular show featuring John McDermott at the Roy
Thomson Hall.
This Anniversary Gala, on July 23rd 2005, will mark the culmination of
the yearlong festivities celebrating this auspicious year in our
fraternity’s history. The year’s celebrations commenced in a
spectacular manner at Grand Lodge in 2004, and will close in a similar
fashion at the Roy Thomson Hall in 2005.

Help us promote
your endeavours....
As we
move forward to our 150th Anniversary celebrations at Grand Lodge, we have
been asking individual Districts to apprise the 150th Anniversary
Committee of the plans for their individual Districts.
Although
we have had some good responses to date, we would like to see more
Districts sending us written responses to this web site. We in turn would
like to publicize these responses for the benefit of the brethren at
large. Only by making our fraternity aware of these celebratory events can
we encourage them to support the planned events and at the same time
encourage them in the planning for their District celebrations.
