Brethren the 148th Annual Communication of Grand Lodge held in Toronto is now a part of our Masonic History.

The Reports of the Chairman of the Committees of Grand Lodge presented at the Board of General Purposes Meetings on the Monday and Tuesday were very informative and there is a veritable wealth of information contained therein. I heartily recommend that you review them in the Annual Proceedings, available from your Lodge Secretary in November. (Or you may order your personal copy through the Grand Lodge Office in Hamilton)

In addition the Masonic Holdings meeting (more information will be forthcoming in the next issue of the O.M.M.) and a review of the Masonic Foundations’ activities were most enlightening.

Those in attendance on the Wednesday evening at the Grand Master’s Banquet were, in addition to a fine meal; treated to an evening of truly wonderful entertainment.

On the Thursday morning we witnessed the installation of our Grand Master: M.W. Bro. Donald Mumby and the Deputy Grand Master, R.W. Bro. Gary Atkinson; and our heartiest congratulations go to them both, for what I know will be a most rewarding tenure in office.

The Grand Jurisdiction is indeed fortunate to have these dedicated Brethren provide guidance and direction for the betterment of Masonry in Ontario.

The “Team,” of dedicated Masonic Leaders, who will assist them at the helm, are the new District Deputy Grand Master’s and Members of the Management Group, consisting of Past Grand Masters and Members of the Board of General Purposes.

The Sesquicentennial Committee of Grand Lodge is extremely busy attending to their responsibilities. And although the ‘event,’ does not officially get underway until July - 2004, their labors point out the need for action planning.

I know first hand, that the Seven Toronto Districts are actively planning several events and their committee is hard at work. Their efforts will be enriched with the support and participation of the Concordant Bodies of Masonry.

Speaking of the Concordant Bodies of Masonry: have you picked up your brochure from the Lodge Secretary on the “Family of Freemasonry in Ontario?”

I recommend and respectfully suggest that you include the Family of Freemasonry Bodies in any of the plans for your District or Lodge celebration of the 150th Anniversary of our Grand Jurisdiction.

In closing remember this is your Magazine enjoy and contribute to it.
